Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! This time of year is always great for relaxing with family and friends, sharing home-cooked meals, and listening to your favorite music - old and new!
We have plenty of new records to announce for the last week and half, but first of all we have one final reminder for those of you who will be in New York City tomorrow, December 3, 2008:
Don't miss WIRED presents An Evening With Anthology Recordings! The details are listed in the most recent post below. Make sure you all RSVP at rsvp@anthologyrecordings.com - space is limited and we're expecting a big crowd and a great set from King Khan & BBQ Show!
Up first, we're happy to announce the addition of Os Mutantes Everything Is Possible, our first album from David Byrne's record label, Luaka Bop. Bubbling out of the Brazilian Tropicália movement of the late 1960s, Os Mutantes were incredibly innovative, inventing their own sound, instruments and techniques!
More from South America, we've also just received a couple of new records from Peruvian re-issue label, Repsychled Records! From Peru we have self-titled Telegraph Avenue - one of the very first recorded Peruvian pysch-rock outfits! Sadly, Telegraph Avenue only lasted for one record, disbanding shortly after its release. Soon after, however, drummer Walo Carrillo and singer Alex Nathanson reunited to form Tarkus, with two Argentinian friends. A little heavier than Telegraph Avenue, Tarkus is an amazing psych-rock record!
From legendary producer/songwriter Patrick Adams, comes The Master of The Masterpieces: The Very Best of Mr. Patrick Adams. A collection of soul and disco hits released by Traffic Distribution, this album spans a little over a decade of Adams' earlier work, featuring amazing performances by Sandra Herring, Donna McGhee, and Cloud Nine.
Another addition from our friends at Lovely Music, we have a new one from Joan La Barbara, titled Voice Is The Original Instrument, which features La Barbara's stunning vocal intonations. We've also added another from Chicago label, Ampersand. This one, titled Broken Music, from Milan Knizak is an amazing experiment in sound collage; wherein, Knizak literally pieces together fragments of vinyl records to compose his own original pieces.
Another from famed dub-master, Jackie Mittoo, we have also added Drum Song from Attack Records. Also, make sure to check out Rothko Chapel; Why Patterns? by Morton Feldman. Released on the New Albion label in 1991, this composition was originally recorded in the non-denominational Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas.
Heads up, we have our very first album from Kebrutney Records - Attic Demonstration - by Kenneth Higney. Originally recorded as a set of song-writing demos, this collection features Higney on a variety of instruments with a little help from friends on accompaniment. And last, but definitely not least, we have a new one from our friends at Cherry Red Records. Brokenroad by The Misunderstood is a psych-rock gem. California natives turned ex-pat Brit-rockers, the Misunderstood are amazing no matter which side of the pond you are standing on.

It has been a good couple of weeks for all of us, here at Anthology, to ruminate on our first-ever Second Sunday party at the Palihouse Holloway hotel in Los Angeles, California. And in our opinion...it was a rousing success! We managed to get some video and pics from the event and they can both be found here, respectively: videothing and flickr.
A lot great people showed up to see choreographer Ryan Heffington's Fingered Dancers strut their 60s psychedelia-inspired dancing!
If you missed the last party, don't worry. We're taking a little break for the Holidays, but will be back in January. The next Second Sunday party will be on January 18th, 2009! So mark it down on your calendars - we would love to see you there.
